What are the objectives of HKSSEP?

HKSSEP is a platform for both sport psychology experts and enthusiasts to share and exchange their ideas for the profession. HKSSEP is to promote and support the scientific study and professional practice among sport psychology discipline.

How much does it Cost?

All applicants shall mail the application form with a crossed cheque of an appropriate of membership subscription fee.

Who can become member?

Membership is open to any person or organization in Hong Kong or overseas and who has the interest in Sport and Exercise Psychology. In applying for membership, an applicant shall submit a duly completed application form or a letter to the Society. The Applicant shall become a member when the application is approved by the Managing Council and the prescribed fees are paid.

Full Member

  • Full members shall be those persons who have a professional and/or scientific interest in sport psychology and pay individual membership dues.
  • They shall have the right of one vote at General Meetings but could not be nominated at the election of Managing Council.

Group Member

  • Association, institution, firm, company or other registered corporate body which at the discretion of the Managing Council may be admitted as Group Member.
  • The applicant shall have to pay the fees prescribed by the Managing Council for Group member.
  • A Group member shall submit to the Managing Council the name of one representative from that organization.
  • Group member shall have the right to one vote at General Meetings but could not be nominated at the election of the Managing Council Members.

Fellows

  • Fellows shall be individuals (nominated and approved by the Managing Council) who have made a longstanding and distinguished contribution to the development of HKSSEP.
  • They shall be granted a life-time membership and be waived of any charge of membership fees.
  • They shall have the right of one vote at general meetings and could be nominated at the election of Managing Council.

Founding Member

  • Founding Members are the persons responsible for setting up the Society. Founding Members shall have to pay a single-payment-life-time fee.
  • They shall have the right of one vote at general meetings and could be nominated at the election of Managing Council.

Student Member

  • Student members shall be those who are age 15 to 25 years old and who are either
  1. registered full time students in an officially recognized local or overseas educational institution or
  2. athletes with full time scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
  • These members should pay student membership dues. The final decision of granting student members status belongs to the Managing Council of the HKSSEP.

Professional Member

  • Professional members must be professional practitioners or HKSSEP members who have
  1. satisfactorily completed an accredited undergraduate degree with at least half of the courses being psychology courses and an accredited postgraduate degree in Sport Psychology (or its equivalent);
  2. completed at least four hundred hours of practicum within or subsequent to the postgraduate degree under a supervisor or psychologist approved by the Society from time to time, or teaching experience in sport psychology or any equivalent experience at the undergraduate level or above in official educational institutions for at least 2 years, or have completed sport psychology research in official educational institutions and being awarded first author for at least two publications in the past 3 years and have regular, ongoing supervision, consultation and/or engagement in other forms of reflective practice through approved professional development activities in relation to their practice; and
  3. have participated in any of the following during the past 3 years.
  • General Meeting and sport psychology or related conference/course, peer supervision, authorship or co- authorship in sport psychology or related publication in peer-reviewed journal.
  • A Professional Member shall have the right to one vote at General Meetings and could be nominated at the election of the Managing Council Members.
